The walk
The walk starts from the National Trust car park at Brimham Rocks and makes a circuit of the moor and the rocks. A path leaves the main track and loops over the open heather on the east side of the moor to its northern edge. It turns back south-west to the main group of rocks, passing the Druid's Idol, a huge block balanced on a tiny pedestal, and reaches the visitor centre at Brimham House. Paths among the rock towers on the west side lead back south to the car park.
It is 3.5 km with 52 m of ascent; allow about 1 hour. The grade is Easy: it is short and nearly level, on good paths.
The route keeps to paths and tracks; there is no need to climb on the rocks. Keep children close near the edges, which have long drops. The National Trust asks for dogs to be on a short lead everywhere, including the moor. Fires and barbecues are not allowed. The moor is open from 9am to dusk, and the visitor centre and kiosk from 10am to 4pm. The toilets are by the visitor centre, about 550 m from the car park.
The car park costs £7 for four hours or £10 for the day and is free to National Trust members. There is no station nearby.
