The walk
From the car park at the Worriken leisure centre, follow the walking-network signs for junctions 45, 42, 57, 56, 9, 6, 55, 50 and 49 back to 45. The way heads west along the south shore to the dam at Bütgenbach, crosses it, and follows the wooded north shore east, in and out of the bays, to the quiet far end of the lake where the Warche comes in. It comes back along the south shore to Worriken. The loop goes clockwise.
It is 10.1 km round with 40 m of ascent; allow about 2½ hours. The grade is Easy: near-level tracks and paths close to the water.
The tourist office calls it a classic for every season, with little climbing. From October to the end of January, hunts can close forest paths in the East Cantons on set days: the walking planner on ostbelgien.eu shows closures by date, and signs at the forest edge must be obeyed.
The walk starts from the car park at Worriken, Bütgenbach. There is no railway station nearby.
