The walk
The walk starts from the Glen Nevis Visitor Centre car park. A footbridge crosses the River Nevis, and a good path follows the east bank upstream, past the point where the Ben Nevis Mountain Track branches off, to the footbridge by the Youth Hostel. The walk crosses it, follows the pavement beside the glen road for about 300 m and then a lane up through the trees to the forest tracks above the glen. These lead back down the glen, the last part on the West Highland Way, and a path comes down to the road near the visitor centre.
It is 4.3 km with 38 m of ascent; allow about 1¼ hours. The grade is Easy: good paths and forest tracks on nearly level ground.
The start is shared with the Mountain Track to Ben Nevis, so the first stretch can be busy. The river runs wide and shingly beside the path.
The car park is pay and display. Fort William station is about 2 km away.
