The walk
The walk starts from the Nevis Range car park at Torlundy, beside the base station of the gondola. A short path leads to a forest track that crosses the Allt Daim on a bridge, and the walk follows this track west through the plantation for about 1.4 km. At the far end it joins a short stretch of mountain-bike trail, crosses the River Lundy on a footbridge and meets Mackenzies Road, a wide forest track that runs back east towards the car park. A second footbridge over the River Lundy, close to the car park, ends the loop.
It is 3.6 km with 44 m of ascent; allow about 1 hour. The grade is Easy: wide tracks on gentle ground, with one short stretch of narrow trail.
This is the Leanachan Forest on the north side of Aonach Mòr. It is a working forest, and the tracks are shared with mountain bikers from the Nevis Range trails, so keep to the side and listen for riders.
The car park charges; the Nevis Range website gives £5 a day. The cafés at the base station are beside it.
