The walk
The walk starts from the Lower Falls car park in Glen Nevis. It first goes to the road bridge over the River Nevis, where Polldubh Falls drop beside the bridge, then follows the road west for about 300 m to Achriabhach. Here a path leaves the road and climbs steeply through the forest to a forest track at a sharp bend, crosses the track and goes on up to a higher track. That track leads back down the hillside to the bend and by two more zigzags to the road at Achriabhach, and a short walk on the road returns to the car park.
It is 3.8 km with 184 m of ascent; allow about 1½ hours. The grade is Easy: short, but the path above Achriabhach is steep and rough underfoot.
Polldubh Falls are also called the Lower Falls. The high point is 218 m. About a fifth of the walk is on the glen road, so take care of traffic.
The car park is pay and display and has public toilets. Fort William station is about 7 km away.
