The walk
From Käsmu chapel and cemetery, RMK's hiking trail circles the smallest peninsula of the national park, about 10 km of it along the coast; our line goes anticlockwise. It passes the Meremunk and Metsamunk granite boulders near Palganeem, Eru bay, Kõrgekalda and Käsmu lake, which a strip 200 m wide separates from the sea, and the old seafarers' village of Käsmu.
It is 15.5 km round with 22 m of climb; allow about 4 hours. The grade is Moderate for its length: shore and forest paths, tracks and a little road, with no climbing to speak of. RMK gives 15 km.
There is no water mapped on the way, so carry some. Lahemaa is a national park with visiting rules: keep to the marked trail. RMK also asks walkers to follow its hygiene guidance because of African swine fever in wild boar.
The trail starts at the chapel; RMK says there is parking at the chapel and at the end of the village, though no car park is mapped at the chapel in OpenStreetMap. There is no railway station nearby.
