The walk
From the car park in front of the Altja inn, RMK's nature and cultural-history trail loops through the former fishing village of Altja; our line goes anticlockwise. It passes a coastal pine forest, the Altja River with its suspension bridge, a boardwalk, the Laiakari and Merinõmme beaches, the Käbinõmme summer house, the headland with restored boat and net sheds and the big boulder Suurkivi, also called Titekivi.
It is 2.8 km round with 6 m of climb; allow about 45 minutes, more for the sheds and the shore. The grade is Easy: path, track and a short stretch of village road. RMK gives about 3 km.
Lahemaa is a national park with visiting rules: keep to the marked trail. RMK also asks walkers to follow its hygiene guidance because of African swine fever in wild boar.
The trail starts at the car park in front of the Altja inn (a car park is mapped there in OpenStreetMap). There is no railway station nearby.
