The walk

The walk starts at the harbour car park in the fishing village of Norrfällsviken, at the outermost tip of the Mjällomshalvön peninsula. A path leaves the village southwards into the Norrfällsviken nature reserve and runs down the western side through the reserve's pines and over stony ground to the south end of the reserve, where the map marks a viewpoint and a shelter. The way back goes up the eastern side on another path and returns to the village on unpaved service roads and tracks through and past the camping; the start and the last part of the way back are outside the reserve, and about a quarter of the line is on service roads and village lanes. The county board describes blue-marked paths around the reserve, a viewing platform in the middle of it over the boulder field Bådamalen, one of the county's most imposing, and two wind shelters where you may rest and light a fire, though there is no firewood there (the camping sells it). It also says the reserve has an ancient-monument area with 14 cairns, most of them on the boulder fields and mostly from the Bronze Age.

It is 6.1 km round with 97 m of ascent; allow about 2 hours. The grade is Easy: the paths are mostly level, but the ground is stony and slow in places.

In the reserve dogs must be on a lead, and tents, motor vehicles and riding or cycling off the roads are not allowed; fires are allowed only at the places provided. The county board's page listed no news when it was read on 11 October 2026. For winter it says you can reach the reserve from the fishing village if the other car parks are not ploughed, and that with a lot of snow you may need skis or snowshoes.

The harbour car park is marked as paid on the map (OpenStreetMap); the county board says the reserve's own two car parks are reached through the camping. A longer day walk of just under 10 km by the county board's figure joins the World Heritage Trail (Världsarvsleden) north of the cabins at Hamnslåttern, goes through Storsand nature reserve and on along the coast into the Norrfällsviken reserve; it is a different route from this one. No bus times were read for this walk.
