The walk

From the National Trust car park, the Red Trail circles Florence Court forest park in the grounds of the house, on forest tracks and paths, before returning to the car park. The limestone mountain of Cuilcagh rises to the south-west.

It is 8.8 km round with 132 m of ascent; allow about 2½ hours. The grade is Easy: half forest track and half path, with gentle gradients and no steep climbs. The National Trust gives the Red Trail as 9 km.

Dogs on leads are welcome in the grounds. The forest is worked, so parts of the trail may be diverted.

The National Trust charges non-members for the grounds of Florence Court (2026 'Grounds Only' adult £9.50, or £10.50 with Gift Aid; child £4.75; family £23.75), and members go in free. On 10 October 2026 the grounds were open 10am to 6pm.
