The walk
Start at the Aparcament d'Engolasters beside the CS-200 road and walk east along the paved track on the south shore of Llac d'Engolasters to the lake's east end. There the Circuit de les Fonts, a flat path through red pine forest, leads south to the Mirador del Circuit de les Fonts; walk out to the viewpoint and back, then follow the gravel track up the east shore and the path along the north shore to the dam, and back to the car park.
It is 4.4 km with 35 m of ascent; allow about 1¼ hours. The grade is Easy: tracks and flat paths at 1,615 to 1,650 m, with a short stretch of forest path. Visit Andorra gives no figure for this combination; it puts the viewpoint about 15 minutes from the Les Fonts car park on a flat path, and describes the forest as red pine with alpenrose, blueberry, box and juniper beneath.
Swimming in the lake is strictly prohibited: it stores water and holds the sluice gates of the FEDA hydroelectric plant. The route crosses the CS-200 road near the lake's east end, so cross with care. The lake covers 7 hectares and is the only great lake in Andorra below 2,000 m.
Visit Andorra puts the Circuit de les Fonts car park about 500 m before the lake, inside a bend of the CS-200; OpenStreetMap maps several car parks around the lake, one of them named Aparcament d'Engolasters, which is where this walk starts. No page we read gives parking charges, so look at the signs.
