The walk

From the car park on Dover's Hill the walk goes out to the viewpoint, the natural amphitheatre on a spur of the Cotswold edge with views over the Vale of Evesham, and follows the top of the escarpment north before turning east on bridleways and footpaths to Kingcomb Lane. It drops by a bridleway towards Chipping Campden and passes the Market Hall, where the Cotswold Way begins, then returns by Dyer's Lane and a footpath up to the hill.

It is 5.4 km round with 143 m of ascent; allow about 1¾ hours. The grade is Easy: the paths are mostly grass and the climbs are short.

Dogs must be on leads because livestock graze Dover's Hill, and the ground steepens below the top of the hill. Kingcomb Lane, Dyer's Lane and the streets of Chipping Campden carry some traffic.

The National Trust car park on Dover's Hill takes payment only by app (JustPark): £1 for an hour, £3 for half a day and £4 for a day, free to members, and mobile signal there is limited. The Trust says the nearest bus stop is in Chipping Campden, which the walk passes through, with Stagecoach buses from Stratford-upon-Avon and Moreton-in-Marsh. The nearest station is Honeybourne, about 6 km away.
