The walk
From Cadaqués bus station the way goes through the village streets and round to Portlligat, then on past the Corral d'en Morell car park. It crosses the road and follows the camí de ronda, then the old lighthouse path (camí antic del far), which has some paved sectors and dry-stone walls and runs on by the rocks with holes called ses Figuretes and the cove of Cala Jugadora. It ends with the climb to the lighthouse of Cap de Creus. The path is one way: walk back the same way, or use the shuttle on the days when it runs.
It is 7.4 km one way with 251 m of ascent; allow about 2½ hours. The grade is Moderate, the grade the park gives its own route no. 19, which it measures at 9.2 km with 235 m of ascent and 3 h 15 min, with no equipped passages, signed with yellow flags and paint. The park's route starts at the entrance to the village (the placeta de Son Dalí) and follows the shore by the Platja Gran promenade, ses Oliveres, Els Caials and a stony stretch at the sea to Portlligat. Our line starts at the bus station and goes through the streets above part of that shore, so it is 1.8 km (20%) shorter.
The park says access on foot is open as always and that the old lighthouse path and the GR 11, which ends at the lighthouse, are always passable, except when the fire plan Pla Alfa reaches level 4, when the accesses to the natural park are closed to walkers too. Keep to the signed paths: the park forbids leaving them on this route and the Punta is an integral reserve. Camping is not allowed outside campsites, no fire may be lit, not even with a stove, and dogs must be on a lead.
The park says there is a free car park of 120 spaces at the Corral d'en Morell, meant for people who intend to visit the Punta de Cap de Creus. Cadaqués has a bus station. The park's FAQ says a shuttle minibus run by SARFA, with tickets on the bus or online, runs on the days when vehicles are restricted on the road to the lighthouse; the access page gives no autumn timetable and no regular bus from the lighthouse.
