The trail

The Meraner Höhenweg is a circuit of the Texel Group above Meran in South Tyrol: from Naturns by Katharinaberg, Eishof, the Stettiner Hütte, the Eisjöchl (2,895 m), Pfelders and Matatz, and back by Giggleberg. Its length is given as 93 km in eight stages over four to six days; the line here, from OpenStreetMap, measures 92 km. The high section crosses the Eisjöchl, where snow can lie late in the season.

Paths change, and the weather decides the day. The line comes from the source named under the map and the heights from a terrain model, so treat the figures as a guide. Check for diversions before you go, take a map, check the forecast, and turn back if it isn't right.
