The walk
From the Veluwezoom visitor centre on the Heuvenseweg, follow Natuurmonumenten's yellow plaques with a purple arrow and white dot. Head south-west and then north-west past the Heuven sheepfold onto the open heath, and climb the zigzag path to the viewpoint behind it. Carry on west and north over the rolling heather hills to the Posbank viewpoint by the pavilion at the north end. Then turn south down the east side of the heath, crossing the Schietbergseweg at marker 7, back to the visitor centre. The loop goes clockwise.
It is 5.1 km round with 112 m of ascent; allow about 1½ hours. The grade is Easy: sandy paths over open heath, with short, steep climbs and descents.
On 14 and 15 October 2026 you cannot cross the Schietbergseweg at marker 7 while new asphalt is laid; on other days you can, but watch for works traffic. From 5 October to 17 November the upper road is shut to through traffic, but the visitor centre stays reachable by car. Dogs must be on a lead and stay on the paths. Large grazing animals roam the heath: keep your distance.
No charge is listed for the car park at the visitor centre. On busy days the car parks fill, and posbank-parkeren.nl lists others. Rheden station is about 1 km away, a 12-minute walk; buses stop at Rheden, Groenestraat.
