The walk
From the Karwendeltäler car park at the edge of Pertisau, at the start of the toll road into the Karwendel valleys, an asphalt path leaves the end of the car park for the Falzthurnalm (1,077 m), about an hour up the Falzthurntal. Beyond it a natural track crosses alpine meadows to the Gramai Alm at 1,263 m, about 7 km from Pertisau at the end of the valley, in the Karwendel Nature Park. Return the same way.
It is 14.1 km there and back with 292 m of ascent; allow about 4½ hours (tirol.at gives 4 h 30, Achensee Tourismus 5 h 30). The grade is Moderate for its length: the climb is gentle, and the DIN 33466 time is 4.3 hours, on asphalt and gravel track with a short stretch of path.
The valley road is a toll road for vehicles, which the Karwendel Nature Park lists for the Falzthurn and Gern valleys, so expect some traffic where path and road share the line. Achensee Tourismus says the way as far as the Falzthurnalm suits pushchairs and wheelchairs; the tirol.at page asks for sturdy ankle-high boots and weather-appropriate clothing, and recommends trekking poles. Walking times can vary with snow conditions.
The Karwendeltäler car park is charged (tirol.at; OpenStreetMap fee=yes). Regional bus lines 8332 and 390 stop at Pertisau Karwendeltäler, says tirol.at. Achensee Tourismus lists the Gramai Alm, the Alpengasthaus Falzturn and the Sennhütte Falzthurn along the route; check their opening days before you go.
