Stenkällan and Stenkälleklack in Tiveden

From the car park at the main entrance to Tiveden National Park, follow the yellow markers of Stenkällerundan west along the shore of the lake Stora Trehörningen to Älgasundet, where a low round mound is all that is left of an old charcoal stack. The path turns north to Stenkällan, where great boulders lie where the ice left them. A short climb leads to the top of Stenkälleklack and a view over the forest. The way back runs through a rift valley past the small lake Ödlesjön to the entrance.

It is 2.5 km round with 59 m of ascent; allow about an hour. The grade is Easy, but the ground is rough, with many drops and steep passages along the way.

This is the park's most popular trail, so it can be busy. The southern part, by the lake, is the easiest going. Dogs must be kept on a lead, fires are allowed only at the set places, and drones are not allowed. A link path of about 1.5 km leads from the loop to the sandy beach at Vitsand.

Parking at the main entrance is free but fills quickly between 11:00 and 14:00 from June to September; then try Entré Vitsand. The park is off road 49 between Karlsborg and Askersund.
