The walk
From the bus stop at the south end of Bondi Beach, walk past the Icebergs pool and follow the cliff path round Mackenzies Point. It drops to Tamarama Beach, climbs over the next headland and comes down to Bronte, with its park and rock pool. Beyond Bronte the path runs along the seaward edge of Waverley Cemetery, then descends to Clovelly, a narrow inlet lined with concrete promenades. Steps and a short stretch of street lead round Gordons Bay to the north end of Coogee Beach.
It is 5.8 km one way with 92 m of ascent and 113 m of descent; allow about 1½ hours. The grade is Easy: a paved path and boardwalk, with many flights of steps and a few short, steep climbs.
There is little shade, so take water, a hat and sun cream. Keep back from the cliff edges, and off the rock platforms when the sea is big. Each spring the stretch from Bondi to Tamarama hosts Sculpture by the Sea, and the path is very crowded then.
Buses run to Bondi Beach from Bondi Junction station, and from Coogee back to Bondi Junction and the city. The walk is free.
