The walk
From the car park at Nikkaluokta, a small village at the end of the road from Kiruna, follow the path towards Kebnekaise west through birch forest. It starts as a gravel track and becomes a path with boardwalks, crossing the river Čievrrajohka on a suspension bridge about 3 km out. It ends, for this walk, at Enoks, the lower boat landing on the shore of Láddjujávri (Ladtjojaure), on the way to Kebnekaise. Return the same way.
It is 11.5 km there and back with 82 m of ascent; allow about 3 hours. The grade is Moderate, for the length rather than the ground: the path is easy and well trodden, with little climbing.
In summer a boat runs up the lake, Restaurang Enoks serves walkers at the landing and a bus runs from Kiruna. All three have closed for the 2026 season, so take everything you need and do not count on finding anyone on the way. The bus, the Nikkaluoktaexpressen, runs again from 19 February 2027.
Nikkaluokta is about 70 km by road from Kiruna. Long-stay parking is paid through the Parkster app.
