The walk
From Björkhagen metro station, which the trail association's page gives as 13 minutes from Stockholm City, follow the orange markers of Sörmlandsleden east past Markuskyrkan and along a birch avenue into Nackareservatet, a nature reserve on the border between Stockholm and Nacka. About 2 km in it reaches Söderbysjön, a lake with a bathing place (a detour of about a hundred metres, says the trail page) that naturkartan calls a child-friendly bathing lake; the first 3 km run along footways, cycle ways and gravel tracks that OpenStreetMap marks as closed to motor vehicles, and then the path goes into the forest. It follows the fault valley between Ältasjön and Söderbysjön and the valley towards Ulvsjön, passes Sandasjön, where spring water flows from an esker, goes by the nature reserve just before the brown-water Strålsjön, with its forest on bare rock, ravines and cliffs, and ends beyond the lake, where there is a bathing jetty, at Skogshyddan.
It is 8.5 km one way with 110 m of ascent; allow about 2½ hours. The grade is Easy: the association describes the paths as easy to walk, and naturkartan calls the stage eight easy kilometres. The trail association's page also carries walkers' comments (May and September 2026) that the markers are poor near the golf course, the car park and Strålsjön, so keep the map open.
Nackareservatet is run by Stockholms stad. In it dogs must be on a lead, except in the marked dog-run areas; fires are allowed only at the places set out for them, which the trail page puts between Markuskyrkan and the outdoor gym and at the bathing place at Söderbysjön, and otherwise the trail page says there is a fire ban in the reserve. The last part of the walk, round Strålsjön, is in a separate reserve, Strålsjön-Erstavik, whose rules are in its own decision (the county board's page refers to it). There is spring water at Sandakällan, about 6 km along.
This is a one-way walk. At the far end it is about a 15-minute walk along Erstaviksvägen from Skogshyddan to the bus stop Bäckalidsvägen, according to the trail association; the stage can also be shortened by taking a bus from road 260. Nacka kommun's naturkartan page for the Lovisedal entrance lists parking for a few cars at the road bridge over Erstaviksvägen.
