The walk
From the car park at Eikeskog, at the end of the road up Frafjord, the path climbs steeply on rock and stone steps to the viewpoints at Månafossen, where the river drops 92 m into a narrow gorge. Beyond the falls the path winds on up the slope above the gorge and along the valley to Mån, an old mountain farm now kept as a friluftsgård, a farm for outdoor recreation. Return the same way.
It is 2.9 km there and back with 167 m of ascent; allow about 1½ hours. The grade is Easy: short, but steep, rough and uneven.
In several places there are steps, and chains to hold on to on the steepest rock. Wear boots or shoes with a good grip, and take care when the rock is wet with rain or spray. DNT Stavanger og omegn gives the season as April to September. The falls lie in the Frafjordheiane protected landscape.
Jæren Friluftsråd runs the car park at Eikeskog. It costs 50 kr, paid in the box, with EasyPark (zone 5597) or by text message; the council's year pass costs 250 kr.
