The walk

From the car park at Su Porteddu on the Golgo plateau above Baunei, the path rises briefly and then descends a long valley through the woods of the Supramonte to the cove of Cala Goloritzè, where the 143 m pinnacle of the Aguglia and a natural arch stand at the edge of the sea. Return the same way.

It is 7.2 km there and back with 512 m of ascent; allow about 3½ hours. The grade is Moderate: a stony path, easy going down; the climb of about 470 m back up is the work, and hot in the middle of the day.

From April to October the path is open only with a booked ticket, €7 in 2026, from the Heart of Sardinia app or website, which runs it for the Comune di Baunei. Bookings open 72 hours ahead and no more than 250 people may be there at once. Closed walking shoes are required, and each person should carry 2 litres of water. Boats may not land, so the cove is reached only on foot. The cove has been a natural monument since 1995; its white pebble beach was made by a rockfall in 1962, and fresh water springs rise at the edge of the sea.

The Golgo plateau is reached by a narrow road up from Baunei.
