The walk
From the car park at Nerdal (also written Nedal) in Viromdalen, a farm road climbs, steeply in places, into Innerdalen. It runs past the lakes of Innerdalsvatna, under the sharp peak of Innerdalstårnet, to Renndølsetra, an old summer farm, and on to Innerdalshytta, the trekking association's hut. Return the same way. The turistforening notes that Innerdalen is often called the most beautiful valley in Norway.
It is 8.5 km there and back with 329 m of ascent; allow about 3 hours. The grade is Moderate: on a gravel road all the way, with some steep stretches.
Kristiansund og Nordmøre Turistforening gives about 1½ hours to walk in and an hour back, and the season as May to November. Goats and other animals graze in the valley in summer. Innerdalshytta is staffed in summer; from mid-September to mid-June it is self-service and locked with the DNT key. The climb of Innerdalstårnet is a much harder mountain day.
The large car park at Nerdal has room for at least 50 cars and is paid.
