The walk

From the car park by the Rynek in Krościenko nad Dunajcem, follow the yellow path south out of the village and up through meadows and forest by Toporzysko, Bańków Gronik and Polana Wyrobek to Przełęcz Szopka. The blue path climbs to Trzy Korony (Three Crowns), where a stairway leads to the railed platform on Okrąglica, 982 m, high above the Dunajec. Go on past the ruins of Zamek Pieniński (Pieniny Castle) and east along the wooded ridge by Polana Burzana and Czertezik to Przełęcz Sosnów, with a short spur out to Sokolica. Come down the green path to Krościenko.

It is 13.3 km with 880 m of ascent; allow about 6½ hours. The grade is Hard: steep, rocky paths with many steps, and railings on the tops.

There are no chains, but the rock and steps are slippery when wet, and the park does not clear its paths of leaves or snow. The platforms on Trzy Korony and Sokolica are ticketed from 1 April to 15 November (10 zł in 2026, one ticket for both on the same day); the park is otherwise free. Dogs are not allowed in the Pieniny National Park, and walking is allowed from an hour before sunrise to an hour after sunset.

There is a free car park by the Rynek; parts of the town centre are a paid zone on weekdays.
