The walk
From the car park in the centre of Ouren, follow the walking-network signs for junctions 20, 25, 14, 10, 18, 33 and 17 back to 20. Leave the village and climb a steep slope of the valley to the open hilltop, with views across hills and valleys into Germany and Luxembourg. The way crosses fields and then drops through spruce woods and past juniper scrub to the bank of the Our, at the point where Belgium, Germany and Luxembourg meet. Follow the river back upstream to the village. The loop goes anticlockwise.
It is 9 km round with 199 m of ascent; allow about 3 hours. The grade is Easy: field and forest tracks and quiet lanes, with one steep climb.
From October to the end of January, hunts can close forest paths in the East Cantons on set days: the walking planner on ostbelgien.eu shows closures by date, and signs at the forest edge must be obeyed.
Park in the village centre of Ouren. The nearest railway station is Troisvierges in Luxembourg, about 10 km away.
