The walk
Start at the park car park beside the Vall de Sorteny information office and take the Pista de Sorteny up the valley to the botanical garden, where some 300 plant species grow, grouped by habitat. Carry on by the track to the Portell de Sorteny, then climb gently to the Borda de Sorteny, the stone refuge in a high meadow at about 1,980 m. From the hut, the path climbs to the saddle of the Planell del Quer (2,055 m), the high point, and comes down past the Grau de la Llosa viewpoint to the car park.
It is 4.1 km round with 253 m of ascent; allow about 2 hours. The grade is Easy: tracks and well-made paths between 1,780 and 2,060 m. Visit Andorra's own route here, from the Canya de la Rabassa car park past the garden and the Borda de Sorteny, is 'almost 5 km' with +225 m and also rated Easy; ours is shorter because it returns by the Planell del Quer path.
Ordino Arcalís lists the park's rules: dogs must be kept on a lead, lighting fires is prohibited, wild camping is not allowed, cutting or uprooting plants is not allowed (edible mushrooms and flowers for traditional use are excepted) and motorcycles are not allowed. Mountain weather can change quickly, so bring a warm layer and a raincoat. Visit Andorra advises routes above 1,700 m between the end of June and the end of September.
The park lies at the end of the CS-370, which turns off the CG-3 after El Serrat. Ordino Arcalís says public transport to the park runs only in July and August, by line L6 from Andorra la Vella to Ordino and then the parish bus. It gives 1 June to 30 November as the Borda de Sorteny refuge's summer 2026 period.
