The walk
The walk starts at the car park at the head of the Pineta valley, near the Parador de Bielsa. Path and forest track, closed to private vehicles, climb steeply through the woods beside the Barranco de La Larri and come out on the Llanos de La Larri, a flat-floored valley of pasture hung more than 400 m above the floor of Pineta, with wide views back across to the great cirque. The way down passes the viewpoint over the La Larri waterfalls.
It is 5 km round with 312 m of climbing; allow about 2½ hours. The grade is Easy: short, though all of the climb comes at once.
The path by the waterfalls is steep and slippery when wet: take it slowly, or go down by the track. Snow lies here well into spring.
The car park, run by the village of Bielsa, charges €3 a day in high season and can fill on busy days. There is no bus up the valley and no permit is needed.
