The walk
From the church square in Anseremme, follow the green bars. The way climbs above the village, where you look down on the Villatoile campsite beside the Lesse, then drops to the river at Pont-à-Lesse, by the Castel de Pont-à-Lesse hotel. It follows the valley upstream to Walzin, where the castle stands on a sheer cliff above the water: a short detour over the footbridge across the Lesse gives the classic view of it. The loop then climbs back over the plateau by Hordenne and drops into Anseremme.
It is 8.6 km round with 228 m of ascent; allow about 3 hours. The grade is Easy: a mix of lanes and woodland paths, with several short, steep climbs and descents.
The château de Walzin is private and cannot be visited. From October to the end of January, hunts can close woodland paths on set days: check ChasseOnWeb, Wallonia's hunting map, for your date and obey red notices at the edge of the woods.
There is a free car park by the church square in Anseremme, and Anseremme station, on the line from Dinant, is about 200 m from the start.
