The walk

From the church square in Anseremme, follow the blue bars. Climb the steps above the village and head south past the viewpoint by the Villatoile campsite, then along lanes and paths over the plateau behind the rocks of Freÿr, with views across the Meuse to the château de Freÿr. Drop down the Rue de Waulx to the river road at the southern end of the cliffs, follow it north for about 400 m at their foot, and come back to Anseremme by paths along the Meuse. The walk stays on footpaths; the cliffs themselves are for climbers.

It is 9.2 km round with 193 m of ascent; allow about 3 hours. The grade is Easy: lanes, woodland paths and some steep steps.

The short stretch on the river road (N95) carries traffic: keep in single file. The Dinant tourist office warns that a local resident sometimes breaks or removes the waymarks, so carry a map or our line. From October to the end of January, hunts can close woodland paths on set days: check ChasseOnWeb for your date and obey red notices.

There is a free car park by the church square. Anseremme station, on the line from Dinant, is about 200 m away.
