The walk
From the wash-houses of Biniaraix, a hamlet above Sóller, the cobbled path enters the gorge beside the Torrent de l'Ofre, squeezes through the narrows of s'Estret and climbs in tight bends between dry-stone terraces of olives. Higher up the walls close in before the path comes out at the farm of the Cases de l'Ofre. A track and path lead on through the holm oaks to the Coll de l'Ofre, at about 875 m, with the Cúber reservoir in the valley beyond. Return the same way.
It is 10.7 km there and back with 771 m of climbing; allow about 5½ hours. The grade is Moderate: stone steps almost all the way, never hard but never level.
Biniaraix has almost no parking, and visitors' cars have been kept out of it at weekends. Most walkers start from Sóller, about half an hour away on foot, which adds some 3 km to the day.
The path is in full sun for much of the day: start early and carry water. The cobbles are slippery when wet. Keep to the path, since the farms beside it are private and the way through the S'Arrom estate is closed.
