The walk

The walk starts from the roadside parking by the campsite at the end of the Glen Brittle road. A pitched path climbs east across the moor, with views opening to Rum and Eigg, past a large cairn where a second path branches off. Higher up the ground becomes rougher, and the path climbs a gully between slabs of rock to reach Loch Coire Lagan, a small lochan in a bowl of bare gabbro. The return goes back down past the cairn and takes the other path north to the Eas Mòr waterfall, then down to the Glen Brittle road by the Memorial Hut and along the road to the start.

It is 8.5 km with 550 m of ascent; allow about 4 hours. The grade is Moderate: good paths for most of the way, with rough rocky ground near the corrie.

The gully below the loch is a simple scramble up a rocky staircase. Above the loch the Cuillin is serious mountaineering ground: the screes lead up towards Sgùrr Alasdair and the Inaccessible Pinnacle, which are not part of this walk. The Glen Brittle road at the end carries traffic to the campsite.

Parking is roadside and free. There is no station on Skye.
