The walk

From the Prasüras car park near S-chanf, follow the valley track to the Parkhütte Varusch and go on up the Val Trupchun by the path to Alp Trupchun at 2,042 m, passing the park's rest places. Return the same way. The park says many walkers come to the Val Trupchun, especially around the red deer rut at the end of September.

It is 13.1 km there and back with 406 m of ascent; allow about 4 to 4½ hours. The park gives its route 01 as 14.0 km, 4 hours and 550 m of ascent, white-red-white (T2) and slippery when wet; Engadin Tourismus gives 13.9 km, 4 h 15 and 441 m for its round walk. The grade is Moderate on our count (4.3 hours by DIN 33466).

The park's rules say that dogs are not allowed, even on a lead, that the marked trails and rest places must not be left, and that swimming in lakes and streams, making fires and cycling are not allowed; the stay is allowed by day only. The park says its trails are usually open from mid-May to mid-November (its page for route 01 lists June to October) and that it is closed in winter; on 9 October 2026 it said it did not know when the winter closure would begin, that the paths are not cleared of snow or ice and that routes close when the streams freeze.

The park says Prasüras can be reached by Engadinbus (stop 'S-chanf, Parc Naziunal') or by the Express Parc Naziunel, and warns that the SBB timetable can be misleading or incomplete. The Parkhütte Varusch is open to 25 October 2026 and the Express Parc Naziunel has announced an extension to 25 October in fine weather (see the notices).
