The walk
From Parking 5 on Kapittel in Halle, a connecting path leads to the Reebok walk, marked with yellow posts, which makes a loop through the Hallerbos. The loop passes three of the forest's four valleys on forest tracks and paths, with several climbs between them; the Flemish Brabant tourist board calls it a sporty walk. In spring the wild hyacinths carpet the forest floor.
It is 8.3 km round with 110 m of ascent; allow about 2½ hours; the grade is Easy: forest tracks and paths on hilly ground. The 110 m is the Flemish Brabant tourist board's figure: it gives 8.2 km and 109.9 m of climb for the walk from Parking 5, and ANB gives 7 km for the yellow walk, whose map marks the connection from the car park to the loop separately.
The Hallerbos is a public forest managed by the Agentschap voor Natuur en Bos. It is open from 5:00 to 23:00 and closed in a storm. On the marked walking paths dogs must be on a lead unless the map says otherwise, and there is a separate dog zone by Parking 1. ANB asks visitors to stay on the marked paths and not to pick the flowers. The hyacinths flower from mid-April to early May; around the flowering the forest's website announces a special traffic and parking regime (in 2026 from 4 April to 3 May), so check hallerbos.be before you drive.
Parking 5 is at Kapittel 10 in Halle. Halle station is about 3.7 km away in a straight line.
