The walk
From the car park by Vizzavona station, walk down the lane through the hamlet and into the forest. A broad track and then a path lead south through tall beeches and laricio pines to the Agnone torrent, and climb gently beside it to the Cascades des Anglais, a series of small waterfalls and clear rock pools among granite slabs. Return the same way.
It is 6.2 km there and back with 181 m of ascent; allow about 2 hours. The grade is Easy: forest tracks and a rocky riverside path with a gentle climb.
The granite by the water is slippery when wet, and the pools are cold even in summer; take care with children near the falls. The torrent rises fast after storms. In winter there can be snow in the forest, which is at about 1,000 m.
Vizzavona station is on the railway between Ajaccio and Bastia, so the walk can be done without a car; the free car park is beside the station, below the old pass of Vizzavona.
