The walk

From the small car park by the Tinners Arms and the church, which has a mermaid carved on a bench end, the walk heads out round Zennor Head. The coast path runs east along rugged cliffs past Porthzennor Cove and Wicca Pool to River Cove, opposite The Carracks, rocks where seals haul out. It turns inland past Treveal and comes back on the old church path, which crosses a patchwork of small fields by stone stiles to Zennor.

It is 8.7 km with 245 m of ascent; allow about 3 hours. The grade is Easy. The coast path is rough, with scrambles over granite boulders.

The boulders are slippery when wet, and springs make the path wet in places. The cliff edges are unfenced. The stone stiles on the field path are awkward, and small dogs may need lifting. The National Trust moved the path inland in places because of erosion; follow the signs.

The car park in Zennor is small and run by the village with an honesty box. There is no station near; the nearest is St Ives, about 7 km away.
