The walk

From the car park at Crumplehorn, at the top of Polperro, the walk follows the narrow streets down to the harbour. Cars are kept out of the village, so everyone walks this way. The coast path climbs east past the Warren and Downend Point, with its war memorial, and runs along the cliffs above Lekerock Cove, sandy at low tide, to Talland Bay and its beach, which has a café. The way back is the same. By Polperro harbour a small museum tells the village's story of fishing and smuggling.

It is 6.3 km with 192 m of ascent; allow about 2 hours. The grade is Easy. There are steep climbs out of both coves.

The cliff edges are unfenced. A third of the walk is in Polperro's streets, which are busy with people in summer. There are no stiles. Dogs are allowed on Talland Bay beach all year.

The Crumplehorn car park charges a fee. There is no station near; the nearest is Looe, about 5 km away.
