The walk

From the car park at Gósol the path climbs east through fields and pine woods to the open slopes of the Pla de la Serra, then up the long scree of the Tartera de Gósol to the Enforcadura, the notch at 2,356 m between the mountain's two tops. From there a steep, rocky path, with easy scrambling in places, leads north to the Pollegó Superior, 2,506 m. Return the same way.

It is 9 km there and back with 1,151 m of climbing; allow about 7½ hours. The grade is Hard: a relentless climb, the upper half of it on loose stones.

The scree below the Enforcadura is steep and tiring: boots and poles help, and take care not to send stones down on people below. The last section needs hands, and the yellow paint marks matter in poor visibility. Do not go in rain, mist, snow or ice; in winter this is a mountaineers' route. Carry all your water.

The natural park's own circuit from Gósol goes up by the Coll del Verdet, a rock scramble of about 120 m, and comes down this way. This walk keeps to the easier side in both directions.
