The walk

From the Dongsaengmal viewpoint at the north end of Igidae (이기대), follow the coast path south. It runs along the wooded cliffs on boardwalks, steps and suspension bridges above the rocks, with the Gwangan Bridge and the towers of Haeundae across the water. Stretches of open rock along the way show layers of volcanic rock and old lava, and there are small coves and fishing spots below. The path ends at the Oryukdo Haemaji Park on the southern point, looking out to the rocky Oryukdo islets and the lighthouse at the mouth of Busan harbour.

It is 4.3 km one way with 247 m of ascent and 233 m of descent; allow about 2 hours. The grade is Easy: a well-made path with many short climbs and steps.

The path is open to the weather and slippery after rain; keep to it and off the shore rocks in rough seas. There is little shade. The glass-floored Oryukdo Skywalk at the end makes a short extra.

City buses link both ends with central Busan; from Oryukdo, buses run back to Kyungsung University station on Busan Metro Line 2.
