The walk

From Wentworth Falls station, walk south through the village to Wilson Park and pick up Darwins Walk. It follows Jamison Creek downstream through open forest, partly on boardwalk, past small cascades, to the national park boundary and on to the top of Wentworth Falls, where the creek pours over the cliff into the Jamison Valley. Go down the steps to Fletchers Lookout for the view of the falls, then climb to Wentworth Falls Lookout above the picnic area. Return the same way to the station.

It is 6.2 km there and back with 146 m of ascent; allow about 2 hours. The grade is Easy: a good track with boardwalk, and about 200 steep steps between the lookouts.

The National Pass and the other tracks below the falls are closed: part of the National Pass west of the middle of the falls after a major landslide, and Wentworth Pass, the Slack Stairs and the Valley of the Waters below Sylvia Falls for repairs and rockfall. Keep to the open tracks, and behind the railings at the cliff edge. The area can close in poor weather or high fire danger.

Wentworth Falls station is on the Blue Mountains line from Sydney. Drivers can park at the Wentworth Falls picnic area at the end of Falls Road and walk the route the other way.
