The walk
From the car park on Przełęcz Krowiarki, between Zawoja and Zubrzyca, follow the red path west up through the forest to the Sokolica viewpoint at the top of a crag. Above the trees the stony path climbs over Kępa and Gówniak, across open slopes of dwarf pine, to Diablak, the summit of Babia Góra, 1,725 m, the highest summit in the Beskids. Return the same way.
It is 9.7 km there and back with 715 m of ascent; allow about 5 hours. The grade is Moderate: a steady climb on a rough, stony path, with no chains.
The upper part is bare and very exposed to wind, cold and fog, and the weather changes quickly. Snow lies from about November to April. The yellow Perć Akademików on the north face has chains and is not part of this walk. The national park charges entry all year (10 zł in 2026), and dogs are not allowed.
The car park on the pass charges; on fine summer weekends it fills early.
