The walk
From the Stationnement Pic-Champlain on the park road, in the Rivière-du-Sud-Ouest sector, the trail heads west-south-west, climbing gradually through mixed forest, with a side lookout about halfway. Keep to the marked trail, not the nearby service road (chemin du Pic-Champlain), which is closed to public cars. Near the top the trail meets the end of that road, and a short path leads to the summit lookout, the park's high point, facing west over the bays and islands of the St Lawrence estuary. Return the same way.
It is 5.5 km there and back with 260 m of ascent; allow about 2 hours. The grade is Easy: a steady climb on a forest path.
The summit lookout is a cliff edge. Dogs are allowed on this trail on a lead from 1 May to 31 October. Bic publishes no trail-status sheet online, and no closure was found. Adults pay a daily access fee; under-18s go free with a free access authorisation. From 13 October the Ferme-Rioux discovery centre closes until 28 May 2027; the Rivière-du-Sud-Ouest visitor centre opens 10 am to 4 pm until 1 November.
The park is on route 132 just west of Rimouski; from the entrance the paved park road leads to the car park. Winter road maintenance could not be confirmed.
