The walk

From the car park for Beinn Lora in Benderloch, take the path marked with blue and red posts, taking the right fork that climbs steeply through felled forest and fine broadleaved trees, past benches with views down to Benderloch beach. Where the red route goes ahead, turn sharp right on the blue route, which climbs beside a burn past a small waterfall. Keep right at the signed junction for the Eagle's Eyrie viewpoint, cross a track and skirt a boggy area, then leave the forest at a kissing gate and climb open ground to the summit (308 m). Return the same way.

It is 5.8 km with 324 m of ascent; allow about 2½ hours. The grade is Easy: a good path, steep at times, with a very boggy stretch.

Walkhighlands warns of an extremely boggy section above the forest. From the kissing gate there is a view south down the coast to Dunbeg, Oban airport and the Connel bridge. The Eagle's Eyrie viewpoint is a short detour from the path on the way down. Contractors working on the slopes above the A828 use the forest trails, so an all-terrain vehicle may come along the path.

The car park is free. Buses run from Oban to Benderloch. The nearest station is Connel Ferry, about 4.2 km away.
