The trail
About 140 km through Padjelanta National Park, from Vaisaluokta on Akkajaure to Kvikkjokk, across open, rolling fell country past the great lakes Vastenjaure and Virihaure and the Sami summer settlements at Árasluokta and Stáloluokta. Most walk it north to south, after the boat from Ritsem across Akkajaure; the huts inside the national park can't be booked, while the STF huts on the southern stretch can. The huts are staffed from about midsummer to mid-September, and there are bridges over the big rivers.
