The route

One of the world's longest continuous off-road cycle trails runs over 1,000 km through the forests of south-west Western Australia, from Mundaring in the Perth Hills to Albany on the Southern Ocean. It winds through jarrah, marri and karri forest on old railway formations, fire roads and singletrack by Jarrahdale, Dwellingup, Collie, Nannup, Manjimup, Pemberton, Walpole and Denmark, with purpose-built campsites roughly a day's ride apart. It is a mountain-bike or loaded gravel-bike journey, best from autumn to spring.
