The trail

Greece's highest massif from the road end at Prionia: the first day climbs through black pine forest to the Spilios Agapitos refuge at about 2,100 m, and the second goes on up to Skala, about 2,880 m on the summit ridge, and back down to Prionia. The scramble on to Mytikas is left out. Book the refuge ahead; it is staffed from about mid-May to the end of October, and snow can lie on the upper path into June.

Paths change, and the weather decides the day. The line comes from the source named under the map and the heights from a terrain model, so treat the figures as a guide. Check for diversions before you go, take a map, check the forecast, and turn back if it isn't right.
