The route

A loop of about 260 km around Lake Constance through Germany, Switzerland and Austria, in the eight day stages of the official route: round the Untersee by Radolfzell, Stein am Rhein and the Swiss shore back to Konstanz, then along the German shore by Überlingen, Meersburg and Friedrichshafen to Lindau and Bregenz, and back along the Swiss shore by Rorschach. It is nearly flat and mostly on cycle paths close to the water, and the lake's ferries make it easy to shorten.

Stages

A suggested split into 8 days of about 33 km (21 mi). Each day ends at the town or village on the way nearest to an equal share of the distance, or at a hotel or hostel where there is none. These are not the official stages: check where you can stay before you book.
