The trail

The Annandale Way follows the River Annan from the Devil's Beef Tub above Moffat to the Solway Firth at Newbiebarns, near Annan. It opens with the Beef Tub circuit out of Moffat, about 22 km, then runs south down the valley. Between Moffat and Hoddom Bridge it has two branches, by Lochmaben and by Lockerbie; this line takes the Lochmaben one. The official pages suggest four or five days.

Stages

Paths change, and the weather decides the day. The line comes from the source named under the map and the heights from a terrain model, so treat the figures as a guide. Check for diversions before you go, take a map, check the forecast, and turn back if it isn't right.
