The ride
From the riverside car park at Bernkastel-Kues the Moselle cycle path (Mosel-Radweg) follows the river downstream past Graach and Wehlen to Zeltingen-Rachtig, below the steep vineyards and the Zeltinger Sonnenuhr, a sundial among the vines from 1620. It then crosses to the other bank for Erden, Lösnich, Kindel and Wolf, with views of the high Hochmoselbrücke, and ends at Traben-Trarbach station.
It is 22.9 km (14.2 miles) one way with 29 m of climbing; allow about 1½ hours of riding. The grade is Easy. It is flat and mostly tarmac, on cycle paths and quiet village streets.
The RadBus 360 runs daily from Traben-Trarbach station back to Bernkastel-Kues until 1 November 2026, at 8.53, 11.53, 12.53, 15.53, 16.53 and 19.53, taking 47 minutes. It carries five bikes and no e-bikes, and bike places should be booked: €10 for an adult, €3 for a bike and €2 to reserve. The Kolb boats sail back until the same day, in about two hours. There is no train between the two towns.
Parking by the river at Bernkastel-Kues is charged from 8am to 7pm until 31 December. In Traben-Trarbach look for the Brückentor, the bridge gateway of 1898 to 1901, and the ruined Grevenburg above the town. Bernkastel-Kues has bike hire.
