The walk

The walk starts at the Forestry and Land Scotland car park beside the River Feshie at Feshiebridge and goes round in a loop. A short path runs south along the river bank to the road bridge at Feshiebridge, 0.4 km, and back. A track then leads north-west to the Frank Bruce Sculpture Trail, a footway that winds through the sculpture park, which the Cairngorms National Park Authority's Kincraig Paths leaflet describes as an extraordinary series of wood and stone sculptures on Scottish culture, and Forestry and Land Scotland places in the old walled garden. From the west end of the sculpture park a narrow path follows the River Feshie round its bend and back, crossing a footbridge, to the car park.

It is 2.7 km (1.7 miles) with 24 m (79 ft) of ascent; allow about 1 hour. The grade is Easy: the ground is flat. The Park Authority's leaflet rates the Frank Bruce trail easy, 1.6 km on a firm smooth path, and the River Feshie Trail strenuous, 2 km: a mostly narrow grassy trail with rough and uneven rocky sections, wet and muddy after rain, with short fairly steep sections and narrow bridges. Forestry and Land Scotland gives the same figures for the river trail.

The leaflet asks that dogs are kept on a lead from 1 April to 15 August to protect ground nesting birds in Inshriach Forest: see the notice. Forestry and Land Scotland has a tick alert for Feshiebridge, advising a check for ticks after the visit, and a Cairngorms National Park byelaw bans fires and barbecues from 1 April to 30 September.

The Feshiebridge car park is free (OpenStreetMap: no fee) and has room for about 30 cars (OpenStreetMap).
