The walk
The walk starts from the car park at Invermark, at the end of the public road up Glen Esk, and goes out and back. It follows the Mounth Road, a gravel estate track, up Glen Mark with the Water of Mark beside it, crossing one burn by a ford, to the Queen's Well, 3.9 km from the car park. The well stands just off the track beside a short path and was built in memory of a visit by Queen Victoria. The line turns back there. The Mounth Road goes on towards Mount Keen. Return the same way.
It is 7.8 km (4.8 miles) with 49 m (160 ft) of ascent; allow about 2 hours. The grade is Easy: the track is good and the climb is slight.
The Heading for the Scottish Hills table gives Invermark Estate stalking between late August and 15 February, with none at weekends, and says the main path from Invermark is always OK: see the notice. The burn on the track can be hard to cross after heavy rain.
OpenStreetMap has no fee tag on the Invermark car park.
