HiiKER or Global Adventurer?
A HiiKER alternative with one price for everything
HiiKER is a hiking-map app with detailed national mapping, 3D previews and summit bagging. Global Adventurer overlaps with it on offline maps, GPX files and hill lists, and is built around a single low price and planning on the phone. This page sets the two side by side so you can pick the one that suits how you walk.
Choose HiiKER if
- You want national mapping from agencies and publishers in one app. Its App Store text lists Ordnance Survey and Harvey Maps in the UK, and others across Ireland, France, Spain, Germany, the US and more.
- You want summit bagging for nothing. Its App Store text says hill lists, including Munros and Wainwrights, are free for everyone, and that 3D previews are free. In ours, bagging summits is part of Pro.
Choose Global Adventurer if
- You would rather pay £9.99 a year, or £49.99 once, than £26.49 to £41.99 a year.
- You want to plan a route when there is no signal. The planner runs on the phone itself, on iPhone and on Android, using map data you download first.
- You do not want to make an account. There is nothing to sign in to.
- You paddle as well as walk: canoe, kayak and paddleboard routes, with tide times and the Apple Watch recording the trip.
- You use an Apple Watch, a Garmin or a Wahoo: the Apple Watch app is free, and sending routes to Garmin and Wahoo is part of Pro.
- You want the app in your own language: it speaks English, German, French, Spanish, Norwegian, Swedish, Korean, Hebrew and Arabic.
